Kris soon to be

My dear friend Kris is getting married this November. I will double as wedding planner/bridesmaid and can't wait! A few months ago I had the pleasure of hosting her very first wedding shower with my closest friends. Naturally we sought the help of Barb for the decor elements/flowers, and Tin Lizzy's for the food! A great combination.

Life's little luxuries

We had a wedding in Charleston last month and came across a beautiful little shop on King Street (ummmm, you can do some damage on King Street!).  It's called Lily and the owners have filled this gift and accessories boutique with "life's little luxuries."  Indeed.  They carry some fabulous, one-of-a-kind jewelry that you just might want to consider for the big day!   There are pieces to fit most budgets, and each one looks like a million.

Looking for a touch of blue?  How about this necklace with three delicate pendants, in filigree that looks like gold but isn't, blue crystals, and tiny pearls.  It's really light but makes a statement.

If your dress calls for jewelry with a big "wow" factor, look at these rhinestone pieces.  This pic actually shows several pieces worn together, but each one stands beautifully on its own!

How cute are these small woven basket purses?  Perfect for a flower girl or junior bridesmaid, they feature a silk magnolia ... couldn't be more Southern style!

And they have a beautiful selection of antique handkerchiefs - a great gift for mom or grandmom, or perfect to wrap around your bouquet and pass along to your friends and, someday, to your daughter!

How sweet it is

Let's be honest... we love what we do partly because of the cake. Our brides know that we always decline a vendor meal, but we always say "yes" to a piece of wedding cake! Birthday cake had its own spot in the food pyramid at our house. When my birthday rolled around it wasn't "what would you like for your special birthday dinner" It was, "what kind of cake would you like?" For our small family of four, Barb always bought the "feeds 24" size cake ... so the feeding frenzy could continue for days. Wedding cake is a crucial part of your big day! Not just the way the cake tastes, but the way the cake looks and photographs. Over the years we have seen tons of fun wedding cake/cupcake/dessert ideas.  Chew on these!
